Remembering we are the Body of Christ

‘The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ?’

1 Corinthians 10:16

Whilst we are unable to gather together as the Body of Christ, there is no reason why, whenever is appropriate, whenever you feel the need, maybe at 10am on Sunday, bread and wine can be shared.

We suggest the following prayers:

The Lord is here, his Spirit is with us.

A time of silence

Prayers including a prayer for those affected by the virus

We remember before you, O God, all those who are ill with the virus, those who are worried, those who are serving, and nursing others and we ask for your grace and strength for them and us. We pray, too, for the souls of those who have died and ask your comfort for those who mourn. through Jesus Christ our Lord.    Amen.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.   Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever.  Amen

We thank you that Jesus came to be with us and live as one of us.  We remember, Lord God, that when he had supper with his friends on the night before he died, Jesus took bread and wine and gave you thanks.  Send your Holy Spirit upon us as we give you thanks for these gifts as we remember the loving sacrifice of your dear Son Jesus Christ.

Bless us as we sip this wine and eat this bread.  May our souls and bodies be refreshed and give us strength to continue to be your Church and people.  Amen

Each person eats some bread and sips the wine.
