1. Liturgy of the Word

Evening Prayer begins on page 146 of Celebrating Common Prayer In place of “A Song of the Light” is sung Hymn 141:

Psalm 32
Reading: Matthew 18.21-end
Short address, followed by 10 minutes’ silence
Magnificat (inside back cover) is sung, with an Orthodox text for this evening being read before and afterward

2. Liturgy of Forgiveness

All may come in turn to kneel before the altar, saying: ...God forgive me, a sinner and, if they wish, mentioning in confidence any sin which is troubling them at present. The priest gives each person a simple absolution.

All then exchange a sign of forgiveness, saying to one another in turn Forgive me, a sinner with the reply Forgiveness and peace.

Hymn 563 is then sung quietly. All say the words of The Grace to one another; then the priest says
Let us bless the Lord. All: Thanks be to God!
