Liturgies from Horfield Parish Church
These are a few of the liturgies we have put together over the years, and which other churches are welcome to borrow if they are useful. Click on the links below for the full text.
The liturgies in the Holy Week section are for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. They are fairly traditional in format, but the choice of hymns and the “troparia” at the beginning of each liturgy may be of interest.
The Requiem Mass is a fairly traditional liturgy in modern language.
The Liturgy of Forgiveness was written for the Sunday before Lent, and is very loosely based on Eastern Orthodox tradition.
The Carol Service Readings are in a version largely based on the Authorised Version, but leaving out most of the less comprehensible facets of 17th century English. The idea was to preserve the familiar cadences and resonance on an occasion when tradition probably comes before challenge.
