Eucharistic Prayer - REFRESHMENT
The Lord be with you And also with you
Lift up your hearts We lift them to the Lord
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God It is right to give thanks and praiseWe thank you, O God, that you have poured out your love in the creation of our universe and our world. You fill men and women with your living Spirit, and call us into your own image. You lead your people through the wilderness towards the holy city of your divinity, and refresh us with water from the rock. And in the fullness of time you have given us your Son, the source of your divine life and the pattern of true humanity. So we join with your angels and your saints in the eternal harmony of earth and heaven:
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord: holy is the Lord God almighty.
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord: holy is the Lord God almighty:
who was, and is, and is to come: holy, holy, holy is the Lord.Father, we remember that on the night before he died Jesus had supper with his friends. He took bread, gave thanks, and shared it with them, saying: “Take this and eat it: this is my Body, given for you: do this that I may be with you afresh.”
After supper, Jesus took the cup of wine. He thanked you, gave it to his friends, and said “All of you, drink from this cup: this is my blood, the new promise of God’s love: do this that I may be with you afresh.”
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus is the Lord: Jesus is the Lord God almighty.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus is the Lord: Jesus is the Lord God almighty:
who was, and is, and is to come: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus is the Lord.So we remember the love Jesus poured out for us in his living and in his dying; and the new life that sprang from the rock of his tomb. Send your Holy Spirit on us and on these gifts so that, with all who share his Body and Blood, we too may be filled with your life and your glory.
Give your blessing to all for whom we now pray (brief pause) and all who have died (brief pause). Make us one with Mary and all your saints, that we may live as the people of God and the disciples of Christ. Through Christ, and with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory are yours, O Father Almighty, now and always and through the ages of ages.
Glory, glory, glory to the Lord: glory to the Lord God almighty.
Glory, glory, glory to the Lord: glory to the Lord God almighty:
who was, and is, and is to come: glory, glory, glory to the Lord.Let us pray with confidence to our gracious God:
Our Father, who art in heaven: hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
As the consecrated bread is broken, all sing the Agnus Dei:
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: grant us peace.
The bread of heaven, the cup of salvation, the water of life.
Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word, and I shall be healed.
Christians from all churches are welcome to receive Communion. If you would like to receive a blessing, please come forward and kneel with your head bowed.
At the Communion these words are used:
The Body of Christ. Amen. The Blood of Christ. Amen.
After Communion flowers are blessed:
Loving God, as a mother feeds her children at the breast, you feed us in this sacrament with the food and drink of eternal life: we thank you now for our mothers and ask you to + bless these flowers as a sign of our love and gratitude to them: through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Beginning with the children, all are invited to come up and receive flowers for mothers and others. All stand to say:
God of the desert, as we follow Jesus into the unknown, may we recognise the tempter when he comes; let it be your bread we eat, your world we serve, and you alone we worship; in the name of Jesus our companion. Amen
The Lord be with you. And also with you.
The Priest gives the blessing, and all respond Amen.
Recessional Hymn: 317 Lord, the light of your love is shining. All turn to face the Deacon, who says:
Go in the peace of Christ. Thanks be to God.
