Eucharistic Prayer - THE CALL OF CHRIST

The Lord be with you And also with you
Lift up your hearts We lift them to the Lord
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God It is right to give thanks and praise

We thank you, Father, that you have called your creation out of nothing, and us to be your children countless ages before we were born. We thank you for our world, which you create for your glory; and for our human calling as stewards of your handiwork. We thank for your Son Jesus Christ, who calls us into communion with him, that you may receive us once again as your daughters and your sons. We thank you that in the ages to come we are called to be divine like him, who fully shares our humanity. Therefore, with the angels who sing your glory, and the saints who shine in your image, we sing our eternal song of praise:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

Father, we remember that on the night before he died Jesus had supper with his friends. He took bread, gave thanks, and shared it with them, saying: “Take this and eat it: this is my Body, given for you: do this that I may be with you afresh.”

After supper, Jesus took the cup of wine. He thanked you, gave it to his friends, and said “All of you, drink from this cup: this is my blood, the new promise of God’s love: do this that I may be with you afresh.”

(Deacon) Jesus Christ is Lord.
Lord, by your cross and resurrection you have set us free: You are the Saviour of the world.

So, Father, we remember the love Jesus showed for us on the cross and the glory he revealed when he rose from the dead. Send your Holy Spirit on us and on these gifts so that, with all who share his Body and Blood, we too may be filled with your life and your glory.

Send your blessing on all for whom we now pray (brief pause) and all who have died (brief pause). Make us one with Mary and all your saints, that, walking hand in hand with them, we may live as the people of God and the disciples of Christ. Through Christ, and with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory are yours, O Father Almighty, now and always and through the ages of ages. Amen.
