Journey In Faith
Would you like to take part in a six session course looking at aspects of the Christian faith, sharing your views and experiences if you wish, and relating to faith to your everyday life and the world as you see it? If so, this might be for you, starting in February 2011 on Tuesdays 7.30 - 9.00pm in church. This time will include a very short and informal act of prayer and worship using different approaches, and a time for coffee and chat.
We will be flexible with the topics and material and hope to make the sessions enjoyable and fun as well as stimulating and spiritual. Everyone will be free to take part as you like, but under no pressure. We will use written and visual material plus DVD and music from various traditions.
The areas we will look at are:
- The life and ministry of Jesus: Who was Jesus? Why were so many people drawn to him and others hostile? What did he teach and how has this touched us?
- The death and resurrection of Jesus: Why did Jesus die? What does the Resurrection mean to us?
- Prayer: Why and how do we talk to God? Does God talk back? Does it release God's power? A look at some Christian views on prayer and sharing our own.
- The Bible: What is its importance for us? How do we choose to use it and how can we get to know it better?
- Belonging to Church: Is it good to belong? What image does the Church have for those "outside"? What do we share and / or value in Church?
- The Eucharist: The centre of our worship? The centre of our Christian life? entering the mystery of faith? What do we believe happens at this celebration?
It would be very good if we could also meet for supper and have Holy Communion as a seventh meeting.
Please have a word with Fr Patrick Hine or Helen Hinksman if you would like to take part.
