Welcome...
Parish Statement
Horfield Parish Church belongs to the Diocese of Bristol within the Church of England. It has been a place of Christian worship and a resource for Christian life and spirituality for over 1000 years.
We delight in the tradition which we inherit, and which grows and develops through us now.
At the heart of this tradition is the Mass, which unites us with Christ and consecrates us as his people.
And as Christ's people we aim:
to welcome and cherish everyone, and to exclude no one;
to foster the inner spiritual quest, and to empower practical Christian living;
to listen to the world around us, and respond to its needs as we can;
to be open, vulnerable, and willing to face challenges and question assumptions.
Like all churches, we fall short of these aims, and depend on God's forgiveness and constant invitation to start afresh.

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR YOUR ANCESTORS?
The church holds current burial (from 1964), baptism (from May 1986), confirmation (from June 1956) and marriage (from July 2005)registers.
All previous registers are stored at:
The Bristol Record Office, B Bond Warehouse, Smeaton Road, Bristol BS1 6XN, 0117 922 4224, www.bristol.gov.uk/record office email - bro@bristol.gov.uk
The church holds a churchyard grave register that gives a numerical list of graves that can be located on the map of the churchyard but this is unfortunately not complete, especially for the early records.
Requests to search any of the registers by the Parish Archivist at the church or at the Bristol Record Office can be made through the Parish Office. The charges are as follows:
For the first hour (inclusive of one copy of an entry in certain registers) £19.00
For each subsequent hour or part of an hour £16.00
Additional copies of entries £19.00
Travel to and from Bristol Records office (if necessary) at 40 pence per mile £4.00 |
